Bachelor project: monitoring SMS communication at DONG Energy

Context

During my internship, DONG Energy was rolling out automated metering that depended on SMS communication. Operations needed visibility into whether those messages were actually flowing, so faults could be caught early.

What I did

For my bachelor project I built an application in C# with ASP.NET and Oracle to monitor the SMS communication used for automated metering. The work grew out of the development I was already doing on the metering side during the internship.

Outcome

DONG Energy gained a monitoring application for its SMS-based metering that improved visibility into breaks in internal communication, so faults could be seen and acted on. The project led directly into my master thesis on the SMS gateway itself.
