CTO of eSignatur

Chief Technology Officer · Apr 2021 - Oct 2021

Context

eSignatur is a small Danish e-signature company where trust and uptime are the product. As CTO I owned the full technology remit and needed to set a clear direction, get the delivery practices in shape, and chart a credible path to the cloud.

What I did

I led the technology organisation, holding product ownership of the e-signature product and owning developers, QA, and support, along with security, compliance, the product and technical roadmap, and the back-office applications. I assessed the current state and set a product and technical roadmap aligned with the business strategy, and devised a cloud-adoption plan using a cloud-native maturity matrix. I drove eSignatur to ISAE 3000 certification, the assurance report its customers rely on. To get delivery in shape I set up the development organisation and its engineering practices, using Azure DevOps for an optimal process flow. I managed and onboarded sourcing partners, covering vendor selection, contracts, and SLAs, led the move to Agile to improve collaboration and productivity, and coached and mentored the team while closing skill gaps with training. I also brought technical and product expertise into pre-sale meetings and ran regular customer follow-up meetings.

Outcome

eSignatur had a technology organisation with a clear roadmap, a costed plan to move to the cloud, an ISAE 3000 assurance report behind it, and stronger delivery practices. The company was later acquired by Scrive, where I kept ownership of eSignatur and took on the wider service operations.
